The Pinakothek Der Moderne was full of modern art in many different styles. There were exhibits about chairs, a room surrounded by chalkboards, and contemporary abstract art. The artworks that appealed to me and made me wonder about the ideas of the artist were:
1. Georg Baselitz - Paul’s Hund
Georg Baselitz painting Paul’s Hund stood out to me because of its strong use of the color red. The painting looks very aggressive with red strokes and splatter all over.
2. Anders Clausen - on’t know what to do
This is the unusual type of art where it looks like something an ordinary person can do, but the artistically thoughtful people have more insight to what is happening in the piece. It looks like a large printed paper that can relate to the new technological age.
3. Natalie Czech - A poem by repetition by Aram Saroyan
A poem written through the combination of different pieces with a prism reflecting light into a rainbow. The prism looks similar to the one used on the album cover of “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd.
